Three weeks ago I was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the cervix and uterus, the same cancer my father had in his lungs despite the fact that he never smoked. Genetics or just bad luck? Who knows for sure but one thing I do know is I'm going to knock it out with smile on my face and in a very cute sweatsuit! Yes, I'm looking for the perfect post-surgery lounging outfit and am seeking an unrivaled sweatsuit---no velour here people! So keep and eye out for me when you head off to the mall or department store and let me know if you find something outstanding, unusual, with bling or animal prints or something fun and uplifting.
I will have a hysterectomy on November 6th at Baptist Hospital in Columbia, SC then spend the following 4 weeks with my brother Tom and his family recuperating. Bets are being taken on how long I will actually stay in SC....I'm shooting for 2.5 weeks but Dr. Salley may have something to say about that! We shall see......

You are so fun! I definitely will be on the lookout for that "unusual" sweatsuit. Keep up that high energy, and you can bet when 4 weeks is up, you can continue convincing your nieces and nephews that dessert is indeed a great appetizer.
MJ Not a parent? Nonsense! You are in every sense of the word. They way you took care of all your nieces/nephews is as good (if not better) that most parents. From the moment i met you I felt that I had known you forever. You always made me feel I could do anything I wanted. You stubborn, confident (its my way or the highway), knowing and going after what ever you wanted (getting it most of the time). But your loving, giving and compassionate side was always there. If anyone can fight this fight and WIN is you. I am just a phone call away if you need to yell at or cry (I do have strict rules of noone crying alone around me)I'm there. Please do have Joanna or your mom call me on my cell to let me know when you are out of surgery. You will be in my thoughts and prayer all that day. I love you as person and a friend. You WILL be fine. Go Gators Lydia
